Meet Our Board of Directors
Our Board is comprised of dedicated volunteers from across McKinney. Since our inception in the spring of 2023, we have been actively engaged in establishing the framework for our organization.
Bill Bradford, President
Bill has extensive experience in regulatory affairs and product development in the insurance industry. He has served on the boards of both a repertory theater and an academy, contributing to education and the arts. Bill is also actively involved in his church, and especially enjoys time with his wife, children and grandchildren.
Barbara Franklin, Vice President
Barb is new to Texas, to McKinney, and serving on a Board. She has lived all over the country and has enjoyed libraries in each place. She is thrilled to help her new hometown library and community.
Joe Closs, Treasurer
Joe is a retired US Navy officer who designed, built, repaired, and recycled nuclear-powered submarines. Since arriving in McKinney, he has served on the McKinney Library Advisory Board. He enjoys reading and visiting his two adorable grandchildren.
David R. Black
David is a retired public librarian with twenty-five years of service in North Texas. With a passion for libraries, he wants to continue supporting and advocating them in his home town.
Tonya McLouth
Tonya has been a resident of the McKinney area since 2015. She is a passionate disability advocate (her daughter has Down syndrome and Autism) and has provided written and video testimony in support of or against Texas legislation related to childcare, education, and literacy. An avid reader, she enjoys discovering new authors and genres. She also promotes Disability Book Week every way she can. When not working or spending time with her family, Tonya loves to travel and enjoys exploring Collin County on her own or with friends.
Roben Closs, Secretary
Roben is a retired Youth Services Librarian, voracious reader, avid gardener, and doting Mooma to two magnificent granddaughters. A fun fact about her is that she has visited all fifty states.
Suvadeep Bhattacharya
Suvadeep is an Enterprise QA Manager in the IT department of a large grocery retail company. He recently moved to Texas after spending years in Europe and Australia, where he actively supported library initiatives. He is passionate about promoting libraries and encouraging reading as a meaningful alternative to social media. Reading and spending time with his daughter help him balance a demanding IT career.
Peter Samsury
Pete has been a resident of McKinney since 2001. He has served on numerous bond committees, ad hoc commissions, and city boards. Most recently, Pete chaired the McKinney Library Advisory Board.
Judith Rojak
Judith spent her career as a paralegal in large law firms and corporate legal departments. After 20 + years, she changed careers and became an interior designer which then led to her current career as a realtor serving Collin County and surrounds.
Judith moved to McKinney in 2013. For fun, she enjoys reading, cooking, gardening and being at home with her husband, Stephen, and their 3 dogs.
She is passionate about public libraries and the importance of them in every community.
Pamela Thompson
Pamela is an active volunteer with multiple food pantries and has been employed as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Collin County for over 15 years. She has a passion for reading and also ensuring that reading materials are available to all.
Stephanie Farrar
If you are a dog-lover, you may already know Stephanie. In the early 2000s, she started baking dog treats for her German Shepherd which eventually evolved into the Canine Cookie Company, located in historic downtown McKinney. She recently retired from there and decided to use her free time to help promote the McKinney Public Library. She has also shared her talents with Krewe Barkus.
Kelly Juntunen
Kelly and her family have lived in McKinney since 2020. Kelly is a former high school journalism teacher who now works in school district communications. She previously served on the City of McKinney Library Advisory Board. When she is not shuttling her sons to their various activities, she is picking away at her TBR, either on audio, e-reader or paperback, because all reading is good reading.
